The East End Community Center recently opened on February 7th 2005, thanks to the efforts of Senator James L. Seward who obtained federal funding through the Byrne Grant, which was named after a New York City Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty.  The Center operates in conjunction with The City of Cortland Youth Bureau, Cortland Police Department and the State University of New York College at Cortland. It is opened to all community residents. The center will be utilized to conduct community meetings, special events and programs, G.E.D. classes, computer classes and other various activities, as well as providing a  warm social atmosphere to converse with other local residents.  A special feature of the East End Community Center is our Police Outreach Program (P.O.P).  The Cortland City Police Dept. often conducts special events and workshops in order to enhance community awareness and build relationships with community members.
